variety of activities to enjoy with your lapphund
Lappies are certainly a versatile breed. With training they can cope with anything.
Lapphunds have proven their worth in many fields. They are showing that they are capable of doing therapy work, working in schools under the Responsible Owners Scheme, Delta Therapy Dogs, Obedience, Agility, Jumping, Herding, Dancing With Dogs or being a lounge lizard. No training is required for this discipline.
Over our first few years as a breed, we had achievements in most of the above fields.
Vanessa Brotto took Blaze to compete at the first Herding Instinct Test gaining that title.
Jacqualine Lincoln has since worked several of hers to many herding titles. she has also worked with her dogs to gain several obedience titles on each of them.
We took Manu to gain the first Endurance titled lappie. Since then Orical and Korpi have titled some of their lappies as well.
Lauren Mills has done scent work and tracking with a couple of her imports. this was a first for the lappies, showing just how versatile they are.
Elle McKay and Teresa Pope have both successfully completed Dancing With Dogs titles.
In addition to the above disciplines, we have had several dogs undertake minimal training to work in the community as therapy, delta dogs and visiting the sick and aged.
Sue Sharp took Kiki through all stages of the Responsible Pet Ownership Scheme to teach children in schools and kindergartens how to approach and handle unknown dogs.
Chrissy took Magnus to work at an aged care facility where he visited the clients to give cuddles and love. More recently Megan and Simone have undertaken the tasks to have Taavi approved as a Delta Dog.
