flyball, sledding & lure coursing
These 3 disciplines or sports are fairly new for Australian Lapphunds.
There are many sledding dogs in Finland however this is done as an activity and not as a race and timed.
Lure Coursing is a very new sport set up for sight hounds but is open to any breed that shows an interest or capacity to complete the task.

Flyball is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Each dog on the team must jump over four jumps, retrieve a ball by triggering the box and then return over the jumps and past the start/finish line. Flyball is indiscriminate of the breed or size of the dog, with the jumps set at 5 inches below the shoulder height of the smallest dog on the team.
Flyball first appeared in Australia in 1982, though the first competition wasn't held here until 1996.

Lure Coursing is a newly approved ANKC dog sport primarily for sight hounds. The sport was originally developed to test the “eye” of a sighthound (salukis, greyhounds, afghans etc), as well as their speed and agility in chasing down game ( a mechanical lure), which are the breeds’ original purpose, though it has been extended to all ANKC breeds, who compete in different classes to the sighhounds. All dogs must be over 12 months of age to be eligible to compete.
