We located the Finnish Lapphund in an English book in 2000 and were lucky enough to import our first Lappies in 2001 being Queensland's first Finnish Lapphunds and we are proud to have been acknowledged as one of the two foundation breeders for the Lappies in the country.
We are home to Australia's First Grand Champion - Grand Ch Staalon Bestseller (Imp Fin) May he run heaven's paddocks and chase the hares to his heart’s content. We are very proud of our initial progeny in this country. They have done us proudly with numerous reserve in show, group and class in group / show wins under their belts. We have 2 grand champions from our first litters. These kids have won Best in group awards along their path to their grand championship.
We are the breeders of Blaze - Ch Theldaroy Im Not Wild HIT who has won the Melbourne Royal Best of Breed Lapphund for 4 consecutive years, initially beating his dad, already a two time winner until his untimely & early demise. Also the co-owner & breeders of Magnus - Grand Ch Theldaroy Green With NV (AI) who is one of the breeds best ambassadors to new owners.
We are also the owners of Australia's first Supreme Champion and multi Reserve in Show winner Lapinlumon Mundus (Imp Fin). We own and bred the youngest (less than 2 1/2 years old) Supreme Champion Theldaroy Anyone Dare To Diffa. He has achieved more than we could ever hope for - Over 26 Best in Group wins, achieving more than 2500 points and all before the age of 4. Riki was Qld top Rising Star in 2011, and is currently Australia's young Lappie Grand chamnpion. He gained this at just 25 1/2 months of age. Riki is to date the only lapphund to have won Best of Breed at the Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne royals in the same year. For a rare breed with limited numbers we are managing to do some group and in show winning along the way. We are proud of what the breed has achieved and may their kids go onto the same successes that these first litters have done.

Watersedge Kennels is still able to claim that we are showcasing Australia's youngest Runner-Up To Best in Show at All Breeds level. Laani remains the first female in Australia to be awarded the title of Grand Champion.
Our first Finnish Lapphund litter was born from our first import in 2005 - Ch. Fidelis Haltiatar (imp FIN) to FIN/LTU Ch. Fidelis Alias Amicus. Her brood of 6 puppies have gone on to make their own mark on the Finnish Lapphund breed in Australia.
Watersedge has produced several litters since then. We don't breed that often and when we do it is for a specific purpose.
We have been blessed with the first cream puppies to be born in Australasia and also some with more unusual colours and markings. We strive to breed typey, sound, healthy puppies and as such all of our dogs are hip and elbow x-rayed and scored, prcd-PRA tested clear and frequently undergo ACES eye tests.
Our puppies are all placed in homes with DNA confirmation of parentage and prcd-PRA clear status. Health results for the parents are readily available to puppy purchasers.

I open my Heart and Home when it comes to dogs, I've had a passion since young.KEIKO is a small kennel based in the beauitful West Coast of the South Island.I take pride in my pack and choose to spend quality time with all.
My first show dog was CH Kodo Sprinkled n Stardust : an Akita which lead me to importing the first Japanese Akita bitch into NZ after the breed split, unfortunately she is not suitable for Breeding / Showing so remains at our home as part of our extended family of Spitz Breeds.
Our home consists mainly of aging Japanese Shiba Inu .
We have a new girl - Australian Import Finnish Lapphund- Nebula at home, and what a delight she is. I look forward to promoting Nebula around the confirmation ring for a few years , then heading off to do some other fun dog sports with her .
We have future plans on breeding Finnish Lapphund in a couple of years after all clear on relevant Health testing and Sire has been chosen.
I haven't been out showing for quite some time due to family commitments and i look forward to getting out more regularly.
